Questions & answers

Is Veyra a normal messenger?

No. Regular messengers pass messages through a company server. Veyra has no message server at all: messages travel directly between devices and are stored only by the participants.

Do bootstrap nodes store messages?

No. Bootstrap nodes only help devices find each other and never see conversation content. Messages travel in end-to-end encrypted envelopes directly between peers.

What happens if the recipient is offline?

The message stays in your outbox and is delivered when the recipient comes online (unless offline delivery is enabled).

Are messages stored in the cloud?

No. History is stored only locally on your devices, encrypted. Backups are also encrypted and remain under your control.

Can Veyra be blocked?

Veyra is designed to improve resilience against simple blocking: multiple transports, ports, peer exchange and private bridges. We do not promise to bypass every possible block.

Is this anonymous?

Veyra is private: no phone, no e-mail, no central account database. Full anonymity depends on your threat model — your IP is visible to peers you connect with.
